'Non Non Biyori' Staff Creates 'Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi' Original TV Anime in 2025

Production company Aniplex opened an official website for an original television anime titled Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi (Food for the Soul) on Tuesday. The website also revealed the main staff and a teaser visual (pictured). The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

@deg Canaan is a complicated case. It is a sequel to an old quest game, based on a short story written by Nasu Kinoko, but for the most part it is original. Even more can be said about their debut series True Tears, which is marketed as VN adaptation, but has nothing in common with it besides the name.

Great to see more food anime with cute vibes and quality art... and without loss of clothing and unexpected climaxing.

It's not clear to me if this is about cooking, though. Are they making it themselves, or are they going around town discovering good food spots?

Did you say Non non biyori?! Did you say Non non biyori?! It's written by atto so it might have excelent characters. Artwork looks cute too. I will check this one when (if) I will have some free time.

@AkeZZZ I have vague feelings about another "original" anime from PAWORKS, which will most likely again feel like an adaptation of a non-existent moe manga, but at least this time the staff really inspires confidence with their experience and portfolio. I wonder how moe-ish it will be, considering that NNB was one of the most wholesome titles in the genre.

@deg Mostly. But that was never their only focus. Moreover, it seems that their original anime have become significantly weaker in recent years (the same effect of adapting a non-existent manga) and therefore they began to participate in hyped licensed projects like the first season of Uma Musume or Skip and Loafer/Paripi Koumei. I don’t know how trendy these mangas were in their homeland, but they clearly began to pay more attention to shows that could become dark horses due to their experience and previously unknown material.

Canaan is visual novel in the first place. More precisely, the anime original development of one of the subplots of the novel "428: Shibuya Scramble".

I loved Non Non Biyori soooo much, I hope this one will be at least almost as good as it was! I already predict that the bottom right girl will be my favorite!
