I believe Mark Winfield fails the WP:GNG criteria. Not enough secondary sourcing to prove notability. Furthermore, multiple issues were identified with the article over nine years ago and still remain.
Article was flagged for speedy deletion in 2015 by user:Joseph2302 so I believe, according to wikipedia rules, I cannot re-attempt speedy deletion.
The sources and links that are listed are either dead (and archived),or are citations of his own books, or youtube content (youtube video referenced only has 97 views, youtube hiking channel mentioned has 259 subscribers). 'The Stones of Great Bear Lake' and 'Volunteer Handbook' are published by FriesenPress - a self-publishing platform.
Additionally, there is WP:COI from (I assume) Winfield himself, editing under User:Markswinfield.
This is my first nomination of an article for deletion - if I've done something wrong, procedurally or otherwise, please let me know. SallyRenee (talk) 12:31, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete per nominator. Very poor sourcing and little in the way of independent coverage. His biggest honor mentioned is the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which has been awarded to 60,000 Canadians - not enough of a unique achievement to deserve his own article. - Delete also per nominator. The article was created by Winfield in the first place, or so it seems. Tepkunset (talk) 21:21, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete: The subject is not independently notable, and indeed the article as it stands does not demonstrate notability at all. Tgvarrt (talk) 07:12, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
