I liked your post because I think Conan is hilarious and I'm an easy going guy.
I knew exactly what he was asking. I just don't care to humor another attempt to enforce the idea that the female of the species has an engrained toxic combo of shallow and opportunistic.
Can a partner of an gender pay their bills? Required, with unexpected interruptions in employment/funds understood to be expected.
If my monies can support us both and my partner has the opportunity to pursue a dream or further education? That's cool too.
It's more about a partner's ability to support themselves. That motivation, accountability and drive to be self sufficient is vital for functional adults.

Money and sexuality have nothing to do with each other. If you're using one to get the other, it's because the rational bits of your brain have made some kind of decision about both.
Sexuality at the core I don't think is tied to the rational bit of the brain. That's why it is so universal and so valuable. You can be rational about your sex and make logical choices about when to act on the impulse, but the impulse itself cares not for smelly green paper.
